ABILENE — Employees of Memorial Health System (MHS) recently wore blue jeans at work for another “Jeans Day” fundraiser.

Employees who made a donation of at least $5 were allowed to wear blue jeans on the last Friday of July. The day was organized by the MHS Employer of Choice (EOC) committee.

A total donation of $225 was presented to Landon’s Love, which in turn, was donated to the Abilene Parks and Recreation Department.

At only 17, Landon Mitchell died from injuries after he lost control of his truck while on his way home. Landon was a junior at Solomon High School, and was very active in football and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a registered organ donor, and was able to help more than 57 individuals through the gift of organ, tissue, and cornea donation.
