A Salina man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and aggravated battery Thursday after an incident in a local trailer park.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Friday that officers were called to a trailer park at 1200 W. Crawford at 3 p.m. Thursday for the report of domestic violence. Forrester said a Salina woman had gotten into an argument with Zachary Gonzales, 34, of Salina. The woman was in the back of Gonzales’ 2011 Toyota Tundra attempting to unload some items belonging to her when Gonzales took off at a high rate of speed on the trailer park street, which is nearly a quarter-mile loop, Forrester said.
A man who lives in the trailer park heard the woman screaming for Gonzales to stop and stepped out into the street to try to stop Gonzales, Forrester said. The 41-year-old Salina man was struck by the pickup and complained of rib and back pain, but refused EMS, Forrester said. A dent in the front of the pickup was consistent with the man’s story, Forrester added.
Gonzales stopped and the woman was able to get out of the truck when her mother came out to help, Forrester said.
Gonzales was arrested on suspicion of the following, Forrester said.
- Kidnapping
- Aggravated battery
- Domestic aggravated assault
