Wilsey – Stanley Lynn Francis, 80, of Wilsey passed away at the Morris County Hospital, Council Grove, KS, on August 26, 2019.
Lynn, which he preferred to be called, was born in Council Grove, July 1, 1939 to Jay Francis and Lorena Stalter Francis. Lynn grew up in Wilsey and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1957. He then was offered a basketball and baseball scholarship to Emporia State. He was an avid Kansas State fan and thought he would have a chance to make the K-State freshman basketball team. So, he enrolled and walked on to K-State and made it to the final cut of the 57-58 team. Even though he did not make the team, it was one his proudest times in his young adult life. His hobby was sports, he loved to play them and over the years some of his best times were to attend sporting events with his family. He worked briefly with the railroad in Herington, but spent over 50 years as a bull hauler working with his father of Francis Truck Line. He became the owner operator of the business in his later years and retired from trucking in 2012. He loved to just have coffee with family and friends and spend time visiting just humoring them as his kids would say. His greatest attribute was being a kind and caring person and a very loving husband and father.
On September 8, 1990 he married Linda McCaine of Kansas City where they resided for many years. They relocated to Wilsey, and have lived out at the Wilsey corner, as we call it, for the past 20 years. Together they were blessed with 5 children, Brad, Jana, Scott, Brian, and Terry.
Lynn is survived by his loving wife, Linda Francis of Wilsey, KS; his children Brad (Maureen) Francis of Idaho Falls, ID; Jana (Randy) Meadows of Clovis, CA; Scott (Stacey) Francis of Idaho Falls, ID; Brian (Cindy) Barnes of Bates City, MO; brother Ken (Vickey) Francis of Trinity, FL; sister Karen (Steve) Lee of Council Grove, KS; sister-in-law Vicki Francis of Topeka; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lorena and Jay Francis, brother Ron Francis, and son Terry Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilsey United Methodist Church at 10:00am, Friday, August 30th, 2019. Interment will follow at Wilsey Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 29th, from 6 to 8 pm at Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home in Council Grove.
