UPDATED: Strong to severe storms likely overnight

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are expected late Thursday evening and overnight. Strong to severe storms are likely. The main threats are localized flooding, 60-75mph wind gusts, and large hail (potentially 2 in hail early in central Kansas).

Lingering storms from overnight convection possible during the day Friday, a few of which may be strong.

More showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday night through Saturday. Some storms could be strong to severe with hail and damaging wind, and localized flooding as the main threats, especially in south-central Kansas.


It looks to be a rainy next few days.

According to the National Weather Service, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected Thursday night through overnight Saturday. Although there will be some breaks, periods of heavy rainfall are possible which could lead to flooding.

NWS says a few storms could be strong to severe, especially in central Kansas overnight Thursday. The main threats would be hail up to half-dollar size, wind gusts of 60-70 mph, and localized flooding.

Widespread rainfall totals of 1.5 to 3 inches are expected Thursday through overnight Saturday with locally higher amounts possible.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop Thursday night across northern Kansas and then track south throughout night. Some strong storms are likely with a few isolated severe storms possible. The main threats in any severe storms that occur will be large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall.

More showers and thunderstorms are expected Friday night through Saturday, NWS noted. Some storms could be strong to severe with hail and damaging wind as the main threats, especially in south-central Kansas. They will also have the potential to produce heavy rain which could lead to flooding. A slight chance of thunderstorms could linger into early Sunday morning.
