CONCORDIA, Kan. – For the first time in her career, Cloud County Community College volleyball freshman Riley Bontrager has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Setter of the Week for her performances last week against Kansas City Kansas Community College and Barton Community College.
Bontrager has been a key component in CCCC’s 10-0 start this year, and wins over the Blue Devils and Cougars last week were no different. Recording two of her highest assist totals of the season, Bontrager would finish one dig shy of a double-double while giving out 42 assists and four kills in a four-set win over number 20 KCKCC. The Seneca, Kansas native would follow up her performance by recording another 34 assists in a four-set victory over Barton Community College to run her season total to 311 (12th highest total in the NJCAA) despite playing in three less matches on average than those ranked ahead of her.
The daughter of Jim and Kim Bontrager, Riley’s planned academic major at Cloud County is Dental Hygiene.
