Police were called to a Salina business Wednesday for the report of fraudulent use of a check to purchase $3,400 worth of appliances.
On Aug. 19, a male subject presented a check allegedly from an out-of-state business called Jones Handyman and Cleaning Service to purchase a washer, dryer, and refrigerator from Menards, 1805 Virginia Court, Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said Thursday. He also presented identification, Hanus added.
Menards fraud department, however, determined that the subject used a phony business name and ID, and called the Salina Police Department on Wednesday, Hanus said.
Salina Police are in the process of obtaining surveillance video from the store to determine whether they can identify the suspect, Hanus said.
