In 1926, the same hurricane that had ravaged Miami on September 18th ripped through Pensacola with 1-minute sustained speeds that reached around 150 mph. Sustained winds that were greater than 100 mph pounded Pensacola for 4 hours, while sustained speeds greater than 75 mph whiplashed the city for an amazing 20 hours.

In 1918, the temperature in Salina tumbled to 28 degrees. This is the earliest in the season that the city has had temperatures in the 20s.

Additionally, in 1845, what is believed to have been a family of tornadoes reportedly covering a track 275 miles long extended from Lake Ontario, across upstate New York, to Lake Champlain. This family of tornadoes leveled thousands of acres of forest across upstate New York without causing a single fatality.
