Paul Stephen Tally, 79, Minneapolis, died Friday, October 18, 2019. He was born March 11, 1940 at Spon Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX to Paul and Stephenie (Hillegeist) Tally.
Paul spent most of his youth in military academies in Texas and later joined the United States Air Force in August 1959 and was sent to Schilling Air Base in Salina. It was there he met his wife, Marilyn Osterfund, and they were married December 15, 1961.
After being discharged from Schilling Air Force Base in August of 1963, he went into the smoking pipe business on Iron and Santa Fe Streets in Salina and later went into the repair of pipes. Paul and his wife worked together for 50 years. His other interests were hunting, fishing, dancing, and chess. Paul was a Regional Vice President of the Kansas Chess Association and a Senior Director for years. He directed many chess tournaments throughout Kansas and taught chess at Kansas Wesleyan University. He had a lifetime membership to the United States Chess Federation. Paul will be greatly missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Paul and Alma Osterfund.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife, Marilyn Osterfund Tally of the home and his aunt, Lee Burton of Houston, TX.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 21, at the Sylvan Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
