Police looking for a male suspect in a early morning shooting in north Salina. Lt. Scott Siemsen said officers were sent to the Howard Johnson Motel 222 E. Diamond Drive about 4:20am after receiving a call of the shooting.

Siemsen said that the male victim in his mid 30s had gotten into an altercation with the suspect, who shot the victim once in the lower right abdomen outside the motel. The victim then went to the lobby and authorities were called.

The weapon was a small caliber handgun. The victim who is from Salina was taken to the hospital for treatment of his wound and released.

The wound is not believed to be life threatening. The suspect is not from Salina.
