Smoky Hill Museum exhibit to showcase textile collection

The Smoky Hill Museum exhibit, To the Nines, will showcase items from the museum’s textile collection and other related artifacts. Come take a peak at the glamorous world of fashion starting February 15.

For centuries, fashion was reserved for royalty and the upper class, but by the late 19th century, it came in reach of the middle class. Thanks to the Industrial Revolution, clothing options abounded. Mass produced garments, paper patterns and man-made fibers allowed more and more women to dress smartly, or “to the nines,” even during times like the Great Depression.

From evening dresses to jewelry and even to the scents of fashion, this exhibit is sure to please any fashion minded visitor. The exhibit opens February 15 and stays up through August 7.
