hal31019Margaret Mary Hall, 76, of Salina, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013. Margaret “Margy,” the daughter of Kelly and Marjorie Slaughter, was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Salina. She graduated Salina High School with the Class of 1954 and attended Kansas State University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Royal Purple Yearbook Queen. On June 1, 1957, Margy married her high school sweetheart, James Martin Hall III at First Presbyterian Church, Salina.

Margy loved and nurtured her family, friends, church and community. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Salina, where she was baptized. She served on the boards of Deacons and Session. She was the Interim Youth Director and chairman of many church committees, including the 150th Anniversary Celebration of First Presbyterian Church in 2010.

Margy gave countless hours to the Salina community. She especially loved the Smoky Hill River Festival where she served many years on the Hospitality Committee. She was involved in her children’s school activities, chairing many fundraisers and enjoyed cheering for her children and grandchildren in all their sporting, musical and artistic endeavors. She was a 48-year member of Chapter ED, P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she served as a two-term president as well as other offices. Margy will be remembered for her enthusiastic coordination of years of Fourth of July block parties near their home on Santa Fe Avenue and the Salina Bicentennial Celebration. She was a member of Saint John’s Hospital Pediatrics Service League, a supporter of the Salina Art Center, organized the citywide school Steve Hawley Day Celebration and, with her husband, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. Margy was a sales associate with Denning Realty, 1979-82, and she was associated with Kansas Wesleyan University Foundation.

During the years from 1986-2002 Margy and James lived in Leawood. While there she served as Deacon and Elder at Village Presbyterian Church, and was a member and past president of Chapter GM, P.E.O. Sisterhood. While living in the Kansas City area, Margy met many wonderful friends while volunteering and attending Shawnee Mission East events for Andy and her grandchildren.

Margy is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Martin Hall; their children, Jamie Hall and wife Brigid, of Salina, Mary Beth Hall Simpson and husband Grover, of Mission Hills, Kelly Hall and wife Lori, of Salina and Andy Hall and wife Sasha, of Chicago; sisters, Betsy Scholten and husband Jim, of Salina and Dotsy Clifton and Lew Singer, of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Hall of Topeka; grandchildren, Quint and John Hall, Madeline, Ross and Hank Simpson, Savannah and Wyatt Hall, Finn and Louise Hall; nieces and nephews, Margy Hogarty and husband Kelly, Tom Poer and wife Carolyn, Curt Clifton and wife Laura, Mari Clifton Kyle and husband Chris, and Katie Clifton; cousins, Steve Bressler, Marianne Tucker, Tom Slaughter, Jerry Slaughter, Mary Kelly Johnson and Sallie Slaughter; and nine great-nieces and -nephews, Ethan, Lydia and Katherine Poer, Jack, Charlie and Lucy Clifton, William, Abigail and Jonathan Kyle and Harrison and Tallulah Wright; as well as many special friends, both in Salina and Kansas City.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at First Presbyterian Church, Salina, with Pastor Sue Coller officiating. The family will gather prior to the service for the inurnment in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 308 S. Eighth St., P.O. Box 585, Salina 67402.

Elilyana Marie Kelly, infant daughter of Christopher Kelly and Taylor Normandin, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. She was born Oct. 18, 2013, in Salina.

Preceded in death by: uncle, CadeNormandin; great-uncle,Chris Carter; and great-grandmothers, Norma St. Clair and Byrdie Kelly.

Survivors include: parents; grandparents, Virginia St. Clair, Nick and Becky O’Brien, Patrick Normandin, all of Salina, and Norman Kelly, of Topeka; great-grandparents, Richard and Joyce Eggars, of McPherson and Don and Linda Normandin, of Demar; uncle, Caleb Normandin; and aunts, Teagan O’Brien and Jessica Kelly, all of Salina.

Thaddeus was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on May 25, 1967, to the late Patricia A. (Kee) and Melvin Johnson.

Thaddeus was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a paraeducator for the Sedgwick County Interlocal Cooperative. Thaddeus was a 2011 graduate of McPherson College, and was currently pursuing his Masters Degree in social work from Wichita State University.

Survivors include his daughters, Jericho A., (Ray) Parker, of Salina, and Jade A. Johnson, of Salina; son, Daniel D. Johnson, of Salina; step-mother, Lucille Johnson; fiancé, Natalie D. Horton, of Valley Center, Kansas; sisters, Diantha “Fatchild” Johnson, of Miramar, Florida, and Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, of Miami Gardens, Florida; grandson, Ayden Parker, of Salina; grand daughter, Madeleine Parker, of Salina; as well as many step brothers, step sisters, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Thursday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6-8.

A funeral service will be held at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25th, with Allen D. Smith, officiating. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Thaddeus’s name to Chisholm Life Skills Center, 2515 E. Osie, Wichita, Kansas 67211.
