Taking candy away from trick-or-treaters

300 W. republicTwo young girls tell Salina Police that they had a bag of candy and a cell phone taken from them while they were out trick- or- treating Thursday night.

Lt. Scott Siemsen said the girls, ages 12 and 13, were in the 300 block of W. Republic around 8:20p.m. when a teenaged boy and girl approached them.

The girl grabbed a bag of candy from one of the younger girls, and also punched her in the side when she refused the let go.

The boy also tried to grab the bag of candy from the other young girl, but was not able to do so.

The bag of candy that was taken also had an older model Blackberry cell phone inside.

The suspects are described at being 16 to 17 years of age , the girl described as a skinny and white with long brown hair, wearing a black sweat shirt and blue jeans. The male is described as white, and chubby, and having curly blonde hair, wearing a sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The value of the phone taken is listed at $72. Police have classified the incident as a robbery.
