Musicians in residence

Joseph Vincelli_Joel McCrayJoseph Vincelli, an accomplished saxophone and flute player from Dallas, TX and Joel McCray, a pianist from Arlington, TX will
be featured in Salina schools on November 18th and 19th, presented through the Arts Infusion Program of Salina Arts & Humanities.

The duo will visit Lakewood and South Middle Schools and Salina Central and South High Schools while sharing their musical experience with the jazz and general band programs. They also will present two activities at Kansas Wesleyan University, 100 East Claflin, both of which are free and open to the public.

A master class will be held in Sam’s Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18th, followed by an informal performance in the Hauptli Student Center at 7:00 p.m.

Jazz saxophonist Joseph Vincelli studied in Boston at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and afterward set out for New York City and Los Angeles, where he discovered many career opportunities. He is an accomplished teaching artist, recently founding TAO, The Artist Outreach program. He is a long-time favorite at the Smoky Hill River Festival, largely for his interactive performances.

Joel McCray currently serves as VP of Social Media and a teaching artist for The Artist Outreach and is the founder and director of J & B Music Ministries; director, writer and arranger for the band “Zamar,” and keyboardist for Vincelli.
