George Edmond “Bud” Goetz, 85, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, November 12th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Bud was born in Park, Kansas on January 30, 1928, to the late Helen N. (Gallagher) Brungardt and Edmond Cecile Goetz.

He worked as an auto mechanic, and retired from Marshall Motors. George then worked at St. Francis Boys Home for 6 years.

Bud was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. On January 13, 1951, he married Renilda “Nellie” Lang, in Collyer, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Nellie; son, Ronald Goetz, of Salina; daughter, Bonnie Bays, of Wellington, Colorado; brothers, Virgil “Jim” Goetz, of WaKeeney, Kansas, Charles “Mike” Goetz, of Grinnell, Kansas, Bill Goetz, of Oakley, Kansas, and Gary Goetz, of WaKeeney, Kanasas; sisters, Delores Deines, of WaKeeney, Kansas, Elsie Bittel, of WaKeeney, Kansas, and Patsy Radcliffe, of Kenton, Ohio; as well as four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by sisters, Helen Maxine Leiker, and Marlene Fahey.

Cremation has been chosen and at the family’s request there will be no visitation.

A Rosary service will be held at 9:30 am, Monday, November 18, 2013 at Sacred Heart Cathedral and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Darlene Zoberst, 99, of Salina, died November 11, 2013 at Brookdale Senior Living of Salina. Miss Zoberst was born November 16, 1913 at Burr Oak, the daughter of Carl F. and Lillie V. (Wagner) Zoberst.

A longtime resident of Salina, Darlene was a career teacher in the Salina Public Schools, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Burr Oak Methodist Church, the National Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Emporia State University Alumni Association.

Darlene was preceded in death by her two siblings, brother Loren Zoberst and sister, Betty Loraine Sheets. She is survived by her nephew Fred Zoberst, of Kittredge, Colorado.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, two blocks East of State Highway 128, downtown Burr Oak. Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Burr Oak United Methodist Church. Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401 is handling arrangements.

Dean R. Chambers, 90, of Salina, died Tuesday, Nov 12, 2013. He was born June 12, 1923 in Ellis, the son of John and Helen (Disney) Chambers. He owned and operated Dean’s Appliance-Heating and Air Conditioning for over thirty-five years. After a brief retirement he then worked for Systems 4 Inc as a bookkeeper and job estimator.

Dean served as sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. He earned the Distinguished Unit Badge and Air Medal With One Oak Leaf Cluster. He served in the Normandy Invasion, Northern France, The Rhineland, The Ardennes, and in Central Europe. He was a member of St Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Remigia; son, Blaine (Mardella) Chambers of Salina; daughter, Claudia Stein of Plano, TX; grandchildren Jamie Phillips and Dominick Black; great grandchild, Lindsey Phillips.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday at St Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with burial following in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials are to the church.
