Salina Public Library will offer several programs to put children in the holiday spirit.

Beginning Nov. 25, children can drop off their letters to Santa in Youth Services. Santa will reply to each letter, when a self-addressed stamped envelope is included. Bring letters by Dec. 15 to allow Santa time to reply.

Cookies and Stories will give children the chance to decorate cookies and listen to Christmas stories. A special jolly friend will stop by for a visit. The program will be offered at 4 p.m. Dec. 2 and 4, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 5, and 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6 in the Prescott Room. Registration is required and can be made on the library’s online calendar at www.salinapubliclibrary.org beginning Nov. 25.

Come to Tuesdays with Nan at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 to create holiday bottle-cap magnets. This event is for children 5 and older. No registration is required.

Children can make holiday cards, tags and scrapbook pages at 3 p.m. Dec. 23. Children 6 and older can also craft origami ornaments at 3 p.m. Dec. 20. Registration is require for both holiday cards and origami ornaments and opens a week before the events.

Beginning Nov. 25, children can enroll in the Winter Break Reading Program at the library. Children will set a reading goal for Nov. 25 through Jan. 2. There will be weekly games and prizes for inspiration along the way. The Winter Break Reading Program is self-paced, individual program.  Participants do not need to be present daily to take part.
