Delores Marie Boyd, 79, of Salina, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Windsor Estates. Delores was born May 25, 1934, in Oralabor, Iowa, to her beloved parents, William and Pearl Brown, and was the 12th of 15 children.
After high school she married Billy G. Boyd, and to this union two children were born. In 1982 the couple moved to Salina and started Boyd’s Cleaning Company, which they owned and operated until they retired. Delores was a member of Peter Rock Ministries in Salina. She also did volunteer work at Salina Regional Hospital.
She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and shared it with all, especially with the youth, and she also would give them tips on basketball, the game she loved. Dolores was the first African-American woman inducted into the Iowa State High School Girls Basketball Hall of Fame in 1953. She was a motivator and an advocate for women’s sports.
Delores is survived by her husband, Billy G. Boyd, of Salina; two children, William Boyd and wife Virginia, and Kimberly Levell; her grandchildren, Edward, Nicole, Ashley and Jordan; and her great-grandchildren, Kennedy, McKenzie, Allure, Harrison, Mason and Harlow, all of Atlanta; in addition to a host of family and friends across the country. She was truly loved, and we will miss her sweet smile and godly spirit.

Jeannie M. Roe, 92, of Salina, passed away at Windsor Estates on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013. She was born March 13, 1921. She was united in marriage to Robert Roe on Nov. 21, 1942.
She graduated from St. John Hospital School of Nursing in October 1942. She worked for many years as an RN in Salina and Denver. Jeannie Mildred is remembered as an excellent nurse and friend. She had a keen mind and a loving attitude that continued on after she retired, and she enjoyed volunteering for the Boy Scouts, hospital and church.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and two infant children, Barbara and Michael. Survivors include two brothers, Richard (Sharon) Grieves and John (Connie) Grieves; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at University United Methodist Church, 1509 S. Santa Fe, Salina. Memorials may be made to University United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.

Monika Marie Oberle, 28, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013
Monika was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 20, 1985, daughter of Kathleen A. Oberle
Survivors include her mother, Kathe Oberle; sister, Barbara Herspring and husband Kyle, of Atwood, Kansas; niece, Grace; and nephew, Grant.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Phil and Irene Oberle.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas.
