Salina Area Young Professionals to Host the 5th Annual Kansas Young Professionals Summit April 3rd

Salina young professionalsThe 2014 Kansas YP Summit is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Salina Bicentennial Center, 800 The Midway in Salina, Kansas. The theme is “Dream Big Kansas!” and Salina is ready to help young professionals from across the state accomplish that. The summit is an annual drive in day conference for any individual from across the state that is interested in making their community a better place for young people to live, work and play.

Current ESPN anchor and radio host, Jonathan Coachman, is headlining the 2014 Kansas YP Summit as the keynote speaker. Jonathan Coachman or “The Coach” has been a Sportscenter anchor at ESPN since 2008. He also has done extensive work on ESPN Radio and currently is the host of Football Sunday every Sunday during the NFL season. Coach is a native of Kansas; he graduated from McPherson High School and McPherson College.

He began his television career as a sports anchor for KAKE Channel 10 in Wichita, Kansas and then went onto KMBC Channel 9 in Kansas City. He spent 9 years as a commentator/character for Vince McMahon in the WWE and in 2008 he finally arrived at his dream destination of the worldwide leader ESPN in Bristol. His inspirational message and love for Kansas makes him the perfect individual to bring the “Dream Big Kansas” message to young professionals across the state.

In addition, attendees can look forward to a great opening session, which will be a Regents’ University
Leadership Panel discussion moderated by KWCH’s Michael Schwanke.

Featured panelists include the following: Dr. Ed Hammond, Fort Hays State University, Dr. Kirk Schulz, Kansas State University, Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little, University of Kansas, Dr. Michael Shonrock, Emporia State Univerity and Mr. Shawn L. Naccarato, Pittsburg State University. There will also 20 breakout sessions ranging from financial planning to project management presented by experts from the local community and across the state.

A pre-summit social will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd and will offer a chance for Salina young professionals to network and socialize with peers from across the state. Both the social and summit will be held at the Salina Bicentennial Center.

The registration fee is $50 and includes the pre-summit social, breakfast and lunch on the date of the summit. The keynote luncheon will be offered as an individual ticket for those unable attend the entire summit. To learn more and register for the Kansas YP Summit, please visit www.ypkansas.com.

is affiliated with a Young Professionals organization. Attendees will have the opportunity to grow personally
