A 30-year-old Salina man arrested Tuesday for the burglary of two businesses after some of his personal mail was found near one of the businesses.

Lt. Sean Morton of the Salina Police Department said James Allen Commerford was charged with burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and trespassing in connection with the burglary of the Dairy Queen at 321 N. 9th and Summit Plumbing at 317 N. 12th.

The break-in at the Dairy Queen occurred around 3 a.m. and access was gained through the drive-through window. Taken from the Dairy Queen cash, a wireless modem and about $100 worth of ice cream products. Loss and damage estimated at $739.

At Summit Plumbing a couple of plastic gas cans were taken. The burglary occurred between 5 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Morton said mail with Commerford’s name and address was found near the Dairy Queen. Most of the items stolen have been recovered.
