Fire hydrant damaged by car involved in vehicle burglaries

2200 ShalimarNothing apparently taken in a series of car burglaries early Friday morning, but a fire hydrant was damaged by a car that could be connected.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney said a man who lives in the 2200 block of Shalimar Drive was up at 4:30a.m. and saw someone in dark clothing going through his neighbor’s car and three other people walking down the middle of the street.

When the man went to call Police, the four got into a white car possibly a Honda Civic , that backed into a fire hydrant on the corner of Shalimar and Nottingham before driving west toward Ohio.

The hydrant was knocked off of it’s housing, and the car may have damage to the back side.

Officers found four vehicles and been entered, but nothing was taken.
