Wind gust causes wreck on I-70 Wednesday evening

KHPTwo Abilene teens were taken to the hospital Wednesday evening following a one car crash on I-70 about three miles east of Abilene.

According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol 17-year-old Kade Stroud was driving a 1999 Prizm westbound on I-70 when a strong gust of wind caught the car pushing it out of the lane.

Stroud over-corrected and the car slid into the median and skidded across the eastbound lane of traffic on its side. It came to rest in the south ditch on its wheels facing north after rolling 3-4 times.

Stroud was taken to Abilene Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. A passenger, 13-year-old Kobey Stroud was taken to the hospital to be checked for possible injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts. The crash occurred about 6:15p.m.
