Southeast gets a Thursday Split in Sterling

The Southeast of Saline basketball teams were back in Sterling on Thursday for action in the Sterling Mid-Season tournaments.

The Lady Trojans were set up to take on a one loss Remington team and the game went down to the wire. SES would come up short, losing the game 38-46. Erica Montgomery was 1 rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Calli Calihan scored 7 and Kyle Thaxton finished with 6.

The Lady Trojans are now 7-4 on the season and will play at 3:00 on Friday in Sterling versus Word of Life High School.

On the guys side, SES was involved in another exciting game. After dropping a game in overtime on Tuesday, the Trojans would prevail down the stretch to win versus Lyons 53-51. Ben Stutterheim sat out on Tuesday with an ankle injury but would play on Thursday. SES needed Stutterheim’s points as they trailed by 7 in the 4th quarter. The Senior would score 15 points in the final quarter including 3 consecutive 3-pointers. Kendal Peterson also had 15 points in the game and Easton Montgomery finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Trojans are now 8-3 for the season and will play Friday in Sterling at 4:45 versus Hutch-Trinity.
