Salina City Commissioners had concerns about allowing consumption of alcoholic liquor on the Bicentennial Center parking lot and grounds.
Requests to drink alcoholic beverages on the Bicentennial property has increased due to them hosting the Salina Bombers. Ticket holders would like the ability to have alcohol while they tailgate. Global Spectrum, the company that manages the Bicentennial Center, would like the ability to have events outside and sell alcohol at those outdoor events.
Salina City Commissioner Jon Blanchard raised safety concerns, he brought up the fact that clear rules and regulations should be in place if this ordinance is to go into affect.
Salina City Commissioner Randall Hardy stated,”If someone drives in the parking lot would they know where it begins or ends?” He was assured that the parking lot will be clearly defined.
After the discussion, the commissioners voted unanimously for the ordinance.
