Book for Kansas Reads program will be discussed at Library

March 2, 2011 Kansas Center for the Book announced the Kansas Reads book for 2011 – “What Kansas Means to Me: Twentieth Century Writers on the Sunflower State.” The book will be discussed Monday, March 14 at the Salina Public Library’s monthly book discussion.

The Kansas Reads program is a statewide reading and discussion project sponsored by the Kansas Center for the Book and the Kansas Humanities Council.  Recommended by a committee of experienced and qualified librarians and educators, “What Kansas Means to Me” was chosen by the State Librarian for its broad-based appeal that encourages and sustains spirited discussion. The book began with the suggestion that the state needed a treasury of affectionate, literary, twentieth century articles and poems about the meaning and appeal of Kansas.

The discussion March 14 will be held in the Prescott Room, led by Information Services Librarian Nancy Jo Leachman.  Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library’s circulation desk.
