A Salina man faces charges of bringing drugs into a correctional facility Monday after being arrested for running from police a week ago.
33-year-old George Meinhart was arrested for a brief chase in the late afternoon of April 1st, while police were trying to stop him because the officer knew he was driving with a suspended license.
The brief pursuit took place in the area of the Central Mall at 5:20p.m. when Meinhardt driving a Roush Mustang drove south at a high rate of speed. The car was found later that day in the parking lot of Hong Kong Buffet.
While being booked into the Saline County Jail Monday, a 4.1 gram bag of meth was found in the pocket of Meinhardt.
He was placed in jail on requested charges that include flee and elude, reckless driving, driving while suspended, no drug tax stamp, and traffic of contraband in a correctional facility.
