A Saline County Jury has found a 33-year-old Abilene man guilty of 1st-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death a Salina woman in April of 2013.
Amy Norton with the Saline County Attorney’s Office said sentencing for DeWeese is scheduled for 9:00a.m. on Monday June 16th.
Saline County Attorney Ellen Mitchell said DeWeese faces a possible life sentence with parole possible after 25 years.
The jury began their deliberations Tuesday morning and came back with a decision in just a couple of hours.
DeWeese was found guilty in the death of 27-year-old Kristen Tyler whose body was found along I-135 near Stimmel Road on May 9th. Tyler had been reported missing by family in late April of last year.
Another defendant in the case 25-year-old Joel Heil testified in the trial of DeWeese, and has said he plans to plead guilty in connection with the murder.
