HAYS—Water issues are on the minds of many western Kansas municipalities.

The city of Hays announced on Monday their city commissioners would attend Tuesday night’s city council meeting in Russell to talk water.

The Russell City Council is considering a letter of intent regarding the R9 Ranch development.

R9 Ranch, which is in Edwards County south of Hays, has long been considered as a possible source of new water for the city.

Russell council members have questions about the project and want to discuss the matter in more detail with the Hays governing body.
