Manhattan High names new head boys basketball coach

Manhattan– Benjamin George has been named the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Manhattan High School.  Coach George has been involved with the MHS boys basketball program since September of 2008. He served as the freshman assistant coach from 2008-2011 and the junior varsity coach from 2011- 2014. He also served as the interim co-head coach during the last half of the 2013-2014 season. George

George has been a Biology teacher at Manhattan High School – East Campus since August of 2008.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education degree in 2006 and a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010, both from Kansas State University.

“I am excited about the opportunity to be the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Manhattan High and look forward to building upon the success of recent years,” states George. “I am also thankful for the confidence shown in myself by Mr. Marsh and Mr. Hoyt and am excited about working with the players we have coming back next year.”

“I am thrilled that Coach George has agreed to accept the Head Boys Basketball position at Manhattan High School,” states MHS Principal Greg Hoyt. “Benji has extensive knowledge of the game, knows our athletes very well, has articulated a vision for the future of Manhattan High boys basketball, and is well known as an excellent classroom instructor.”
