betty-stockamp-obituaryBetty E. Stockamp, 90, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 13th, at Smoky HillRehabilitation Center, Kansas.

Betty was born on March 5, 1924, in Sterling, Colorado. She was the daughter of Roscoe Wilson and Goldie (Hamilton) Wilson.

The Union Pacific moved the family numerous times before finally coming to Salina. Betty graduated in 1942 from Salina and later went to work for Lee Hardware.

On June 29, 1947, Betty married Walter Stockamp and he precedes her in death.

Betty was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, Kansas. She enjoyed her grandchildren and collecting cat figurines. She loved baseball and was always cheering for her favorite teams. Her dog Mitzie was the joy of her life and best friend.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Bob) Hanson of Cambridge, Illinois, and son, Robert (Janene) Stockamp of Salina. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ryan (Cassie) Hanson of Cambridge, Illinois, Eric (Tara) Hanson, Indianola, Iowa, Kari Hanson of Des Moines, Iowa, Ward (Kristina) Stockamp of Bennington, Kansas. Also surviving are 6 great-grandchildren and one brother, Thom (Margo) Wilson of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brother, Robert Wilson; sister, Beverly Gateno; and grandson, Barry Stockamp.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Shawn Deterding officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salina Animal Shelter or Trinity Lutheran Church and left in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.

mur40410Lisa Anne White Murphy, 50, passed away at her home in Salina on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born Dec. 14, 1963, in Goodland, the daughter of Charles Wendell and Vickie Ray (Richards) White.

She was a pharmaceutical territory manager for Takeda Pharmaceuticals since 2003. Lisa grew up in Goodland and graduated from Goodland High School in 1982. She was very musically gifted and couldplay trumpet, piano and flugelhorn. She also competed on the Goodland High School tennis team. She was a state of Kansas 4-H winner in health as well as emergency preparedness her senior year. She was also a bell ringer for the Goodland United Methodist Church and in Manhattan as well. She attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in life sciences in May 1986. Her professional career started in 1987, working for the Riley County EMS. She also spent several years working for Kansas Department of Health and Environment as a disease investigative specialist. In 1999, she began work in pharmaceutical sales, working first for Searle Pharmaceuticals, then with Takeda Pharmaceuticals (formerly TAP).

On March 18, 1989, she married Jim Murphy, in Goodland. To this union one son was born, Ryan Andrew Murphy. They later divorced.

She is survived by her mother, Vickie White, of Goodland; son, Ryan (Megan Hanson), of Salina; granddaughters, Lorelai Korine Murphy, of Salina; sister, Shelley (Roger) Messner, of Olathe; brother, Brandon White, of Goodland; aunt, Anne (Don) Cross, of Leawood; nephew, Jason Messner, of Manhattan; and nieces, Courtney Messner, of Olathe; and Brianna White, Berkley White and Kelsey White, all of Goodland. She is also survived by R. Scott (Bronc) Barrows, of WaKeeney. She was preceded in death by her father, Wendell White.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at Christ Cathedral in Salina. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Mountain time Thursday in Goodland Cemetery, with a visitation from 3-4 p.m. MT at Koons Chapel, Goodland. Friends and family are welcome at First United Methodist Church in Goodland immediately following the burial.

Memorials have been established at Salina Sacred Heart High School Music Program, Riley County EMS, and Kansas 4-H Foundation, designated to Sherman and Trego County 4-H programs.
