Historian Dominique Francois will present “Normandy: Before and After D-Day” in two locations on Friday, May 2. The first program will be held at 1 p.m. in the Eisenhower Presidential Library building auditorium. A limited number of Francois’ book “Normandy: From D-Day to the Breakout: June 6-July 31, 1944” will be available for purchase.

Francois will later speak in Salina at 7 p.m. in Sams Chapel on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus. Francois will present a visual program and discuss the Nazi occupation of Normandy, the Allied invasion and liberation of France. Francois’ father grew up in Normandy and witnessed first-hand these events.

A French military historian, Francois specializes in D-Day and the subsequent Normandy military campaign. He has written 15 books on the subject and has served as a consultant for the History Channel, NBC Channel and Inertia Films. He currently resides in Normandy, France.

This program supplements the World War II Remembered: Leaders, Battles & Heroes exhibit currently on display in the Museum. The exhibit is a three-year commemoration of WWII marking the 70th anniversaries of the war and its aftermath as told through personal stories.
