The Salina Police Department will have extra officers patrolling the streets the last couple of weeks of May looking for seat belt violations and other traffic infractions.

Lt. Russ Lamer said Salina Police will be joining 150 other law enforcement agencies in Kansas that will be participating in Click-it or Ticket from May 19th through June 1st.

Lamer said officers will be out at various times, during the day like morning and afternoon drive times and late at night, for aggressive enforcement of seat belt laws, as well as looking for other violations.

Overtime pay for the extra enforcement patrol is paid for with funds from the Special Traffic Enforcement Program.
