Two sections of Saline County roads were closed late Thursday morning to permit Saline County Road and Bridge Department staff the opportunity to perform detailed assessments of the condition of two badly deteriorated bridges.

The first road section is Link Road starting about 800 feet north of State Hwy. 140 up to Shilling Road which is about 700 feet north of the bridge.

The second road section is the short northernmost east/west leg of the Old 81 Hwy. frontage road located about 0.5 mile south of the Ottawa County line. Neither of these closures of both cut off access to private properties.

Federal law requires that bridges that cannot be certified to carry at least a three-ton load must be closed to protect public safety. It is not known at this time how long these sections of road will be closed.
