SculptureTour Salina will unveil the new 2014 sculptures at its UnWrap Party on Saturday, May 17. The twenty-six sculptures created by twenty different artists will be unwrapped to great fanfare at 11:00 a.m. and festivities will continue in Campbell Plaza until 2:00 p.m.

“Downtown knows how to throw a party and the UnWrap Party will have something for everyone,” said Melissa Hodges, Executive Director of Salina Downtown, Inc. “We have a great lineup.” After the new sculptures are unveiled, performer Dru Davis will take the Campbell Plaza stage, followed by the Salina Community Theatre Vocal Artists, Cheer Fire and ending with The Soul Preachers at 1:15 p.m. Free popcorn, balloon animals, airbrush tattoos, and “Model Magic,” a hands-on sculpture project at the Salina Art Center, make this a family-friendly event. The 2014 Artist Merit Awards will be announced at 1:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to walk SculptureTour and vote for their favorite piece. Completed ballots will be eligible for gift certificates from Blue Skye Brewery and Eats, Martinelli’s Little Italy, and other prizes.

Each year, the People’s Choice Award is determined by viewers who complete a ballot to select their favorite sculpture. The winning sculpture is purchased by the City of Salina and placed where it can be enjoyed by the public.
