Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Golfer Kamie Rash has been selected as a Capital One College Division All-District ® honoree in the Women’s At-Large category in District 3 as selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association and announced on Thursday. The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.

Rash won 8 of the 11 tournaments she has played in this season, including as the only NAIA participant, winning NCAA-Division II Nebraska-Kearney Tournament in the fall. She also became the first-ever KCAC Women’s Golf Medalist in the conference’s first year of sponsoring women’s golf as a championship event. She has been a three-time President’s Honor Roll at KWU, Academic All-Conference and will be a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete this year. Rash recently completed her undergraduate degree at Kansas Wesleyan, majoring in Exercise Science – Corporate Fitness, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors and also received the Sport and Exercise Department Achievement Award during Honors Convocation.

In District 3, in which Kansas Wesleyan is a part of, seven of the ten selections to the Academic-All District Team ® were golfers, and the average GPA of the ten honorees was 3.93, including four student-athletes carrying 4.0 GPAs.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Nominees to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America® program must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.3 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have attended their current institution for at least one full academic year and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility status. Sports in the At-Large category include Women’s Bowling, Women’s Crew, Men’s and Women’s Fencing, Women’s Field Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics, Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s and Women’s Rifle, Men’s and Women’s Skiing, Men’s and Women’s Swimming, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Men’s Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Water Polo and Men’s Wrestling.

The College Division Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes divided into four geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the third year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
