Update 5:14: No further information will be released Wednesday concerning the officer involved shooting. Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said more information will be released during the daily briefing with the media at 9:30am Thursday morning.

Update 3:22 pm: The Salina Post spoke with Captain Sweeney of the Salina P.D., he had this to say about the incident. The incident occurred on Hemlock. Police were called out in reference to a disturbance between a male and a female. As the officers were talking to the female in Centennial Park. A male approached them and  had a rifle and started shooting at the officers. The officers exchanged fire and shot the male. The male does not have life threatening injuries.

It has been reported that shots have been fired at a police officer near the Friendship Center on Commanche Ave. The police are blocking off the area.
