The Saline County Sheriff’s department was made aware of a scam yesterday afternoon involving a scammer pretending to be from Westar Energy.

The scammer, who told the victim his name was Jeff Stein, requested he go to Dollar General on 9th st and pay a due amount of $833.87. The scammer did not tell the victim how to pay it, but just that he should go to Dollar General to pay it. The victim said the man had a middle easter accent.

The victim did not send the money, but contacted the sheriff’s office instead.
