UPDATE: Triple fatality accident on I-70

UPDATE (11:24): The Kansas Highway Patrol says two men and a woman were killed  in a collision on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County caused by a driver going the wrong way.

The patrol says the crash occurred just before 2am Wednesday morning about five
miles east of Wilson.

The patrol says a pickup driven by a 27 year old Joseph Pena of Corpus Christi Texas was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the interstate collided head-on with a car. The occupants of the car were 22 year old Kyle Thornburg of Wichita and 20 year old Kylie  Jobe also of Wichita. The Highway Patrol has not been able to determine who was driving the car.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

 

UPDATE (9:35 am): WILSON, Kan. (AP) – The Kansas Highway Patrol says three people
died in a collision on Interstate 70 caused by a driver going the
wrong way.

The patrol says the accident occurred early Wednesday about five
miles east of Wilson in Ellsworth County in west-central Kansas.

The patrol says a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes
of the interstate collided head-on with another vehicle.
Additional details, including the victims’ names, weren’t
immediately available.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatality accident on I-70 in Ellsworth County early Wednesday morning.

According to a report from KHP, the wreck happened just before 2am when a westbound vehicle collided head on with an eastbound vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the interstate 5 miles east of Wilson.
