Coming off a three-state tour, the Kansas Wesleyan University choirs will present  “Songs of Faith” March 29. The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.  in the Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts and is open to the public at no charge.

The concert will feature the Wesleyan Chorale, a select vocal ensemble of 18 voices singing favorite gospels arraignments including “Deep River” and “Elijah Rock.”   The Philharmonic Choir will sing many superb choral arraignments of all-time favorites such as “Jesus Loves Me,” “Here I am Lord,” and “All My Trials.”  The choir also will perform Gwyneth Walker’s trilogy of “Harlem Songs,” a setting of Poems by Langston Hughes, an African American poet.  The program is designed to inspire the faith of audience though devotional music.

The Philharmonic Choir is a 60-piece mixed choir that performs a variety of music in concerts and academic ceremonies throughout the year, including a famous Christmas by Candlelight concert.   The choir travels annually on its regional tour.  The choir also travels internationally and has performed in England, Ireland and China.

The Wesleyan Chorale is the premier select vocal ensemble.  The membership is based on auditions.  The group performs every types of music including classical literature, gospels, madrigals, and Jazz / Pop tunes (even with choreography as a show choir).  The group performs in such events as Renaissance Festivals, Art Ala Carte, regional church services and Salina Symphony Christmas Concert.
