Sentencing has once again been delayed for an 18-year-old who shot and killed his 9-year-old stepbrother in June of 2010.
Mitch Christians, the defense attorney for Ryan Velez, asked for additional time in order for more evaluations to be reviewed by mental health officials to prepare for sentencing. Saline County Attorney Ellen Mitchell did not object, and Judge Patrick Thompson granted the delay.
Sentencing has now been scheduled for Monday November 3rd at 1:30pm.
Velez has spent time at Larned State Hospital after pleading guilty to killing Kaden Harper on June 1st, 2010 at their home near Assaria.
