Those who attended the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce/League of Women Voters forum Tuesday night at Kansas Wesleyan University, found the candidates for the Saline County First District County Commission seat, disagreed on very little when asked questions by the media and public.

Both Democrat Stephanie Cool, and Republican Monte Shadwick said the current county commission micromanaged departments within the county.

Both said issues especially dealing with the Saline County Health Department have brought negative press to the county.

Both agreed that the salaries of county employees should be reviewed.

In regards to the 1/2 sales tax on the ballot for a Criminal Justice Complex, Shadwick said the price tag of 46.5 million dollars is too much, and those who are a threat to society should be locked up and reduce the number of people put in jail with debts to pay.

Cool said she is concerned about safety issues in the jail and also in District Court.
