This week’s BANK VI Hero of the Week is Jacque Backhus, Executive Director at Sterling House of Salina.

Backhus and her staff at Sterling House recently hosted The First Annual Walk against Alzheimer’s and raised thousands of dollars to help fight this disease.

According to Backhus, more people are being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease at an earlier age. Even basic things like, walking, talking and skills that were once known are forgotten. The cause is not known and researchers are still trying to find a viable cure. At Sterling House, Backhus and her staff see the effects of this disease and they do everything possible to make those who are dealing with it comfortable.

Backhus has a love for seniors and helping them live the life they deserve to live.

“We don’t treat those afflicted by this disease any differently; we just try to live in their world,” stated Backhus.
