KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – A Wichita rape victim is outraged that her attacker was paroled, allowing him to pose as a police officer and sexually assault another woman in Kansas City, Kan.
Fifty-five-year-old Wesley Watson raped Lisa Clancy Nolla in 1980 when she was 14. The Wichita Eagle reported that for years, she and attorneys who prosecuted him warned the Kansas Parole Board not to let him out of prison.
Now Watson faces an April sentencing date after he pleaded guilty to several charges in the December attack. Nolla told The Wichita Eagle that the possibility of Watson receiving a life sentence brings some resolution. She says the problem is it took another victim to send him back to prison.
The Associated Press does not typically identify victims of sexual assault but is using her name because she has publicly identified herself.
