Tomorrow, Tuesday April 5th, the people (well, 20% or less, most of whom will be the “artsy” folk) will go to the expensive polls and vote for 3 City Commissioners and 4 School Board members.
In my last post I announced the winners. Yesterday, the Journal announced which candidates they are supporting. I was not one of them, but I took Mr. Bell’s final remark as an endorsement for me.
He said if predictions of the winners prove accurate, it would place 3 former teachers on the board. This is definitely not a good thing.
As for the City Commission election, we disagree on the outome, but like the school board race, this is one candidate..with 3 or four different names. In other words, the endorsed candidates are wll educated, experienced and all think alike. There will be no change in policy. The “status quo” will remain. What’s worse is our current city commission is trying to get another run at the river project before they leave office.
To bad the Tea Party doesn’t extend downward to the local level. Collectively, a lot of the electorate speak out against the status quo on the 333 line and in the bars and stores, but not at the ballot box. If all goes according to the Journal’s prediction, they will have another two years in which to complain about the same ol’ same ol’.
