Statement from USD 305 Superintendent of Schools Bill Hall
On February 5 Governor Brownback cut general state aid for this current school year by 1.5 percent. This equates a $400,413 cut in school funding to USD 305 that will take effect on March 7. Reducing planned, budgeted expenditures mid-year is difficult at this point with over half the school year behind us. Salina USD 305 will use contingency reserve funds and other reductions to close the $400,413 gap.
We will protect our students and their opportunities to the best of our abilities. Their education must be protected and supported. It is important that our legislators hear from Kansans that students’ education remain a priority.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and schools.
