Kansas Wesleyan University to host Health and Wellness Fair April 16

Health and wellness resources will abound at Kansas Wesleyan University April 16! That’s when KWU will host the 2011 Health and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Activities Center.

The event is open to the public at no charge.

Crystal Stegman, one of the student organizers, said the purpose of the Health and Wellness Fair is to raise awareness of all dimensions of health in the Salina community.

According Stegman, a variety of organizations will be on hand to provide information on prevention services, screening services, demonstrations, and activities. There will be giveaways and prizes as well.

Additionally, Team Salina’s Move Smart plans to provide fun fitness games in the KWU gym area from 10 a.m. to noon as a part of the Health and Wellness Fair.

Organizations scheduled to participate include the following.

Accurate Prosthetics & Orthotics: custom orthotics, AFO, inserts, and prosthetics

Beachbody: health and fitness information, body mass index screening, and samples

Concepts in Weight Management: weight management program information

Central Kansas Mental Health Center: information about stress symptoms and management, self-scoring screenings questionnaire for anxiety and depression

Chiropractic Wellness Center: video of screenings, acupuncture display, information, surface electromyography

Jeremy Ryan Chiropractic Center of Salina: information, spinal exam

Salina Family Healthcare Center: information, blood pressure checks, and oral health screenings

Salina Family YMCA: information about classes, body fat percentage screening, girth measurements, and sugar game

Salina Physical Therapy: video analysis

Salina-Saline County Health Department: information about the department, body mass index screening, and chronic disease prevention information

Tammy Walker Cancer Center: info about cancer awareness, Dermascan, and colon screening kits

The KWU Health and Wellness Fair was made possible in part through a Wellness Grant from the United Methodist Health Ministries Fund.
