This weeks BANK VI Heroes of the Week are Eric and Janie Ford.

The Fords have been fighting against human trafficking locally by starting The Salina Area Coalition for Trafficked Persons.  Every year in the United States there are 300,000 people that are used and exploited due to human trafficking.  Wichita ranks 5th among the cities with the highest numbers of human trafficking cases.  Data also indicates that any city with a population of 50,000 or more is likely to have some form of human trafficking.

The Fords, along with countless local volunteers, fight against human trafficking on a local level and help to provide resources to those who have been pulled out of the world of human trafficking.

While their causes are the same, both Eric and Janie fight against human trafficking for different reasons.

“I want to see justice being done.  That fact that a form of slavery still exists is astounding to me”, said Eric.

While Janie stated, “I want these people to know they have worth, I want to help re-establish their dignity and purpose.”
