Aloysius John “Al” Steichen, 102, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was born March 23, 1913, in Tipton, to John Baptist Steichen and Katherine Regina Hake Steichen.

He married Angela Kent on Feb. 6, 1940. He graduated from Tipton High School and attended Benedictine College.

Al was an assistant credit manager for Standard Oil Co., in Wichita, until 1946. At that time, he entered into a partnership with his cousin, Dr. Edward Steichen, in Lenora, to manage a Case farm machinery dealership. In 1950, he purchased the Case Implement agency in Salina, which he operated for 11 years. Al was a sales representative for Universal Motor Oils in Wichita for 17 years before retiring in 1978. After retiring, Al enjoyed woodworking, golf, computer applications and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Al was a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge in Salina.

He is survived by Angela, his wife of 75 years; their children, Paul Steichen (Marion), Richard Steichen (Rosemary), Tom Steichen (Ruth), and Mary Steichen (Art Duston); 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud St., Salina. Following the service and a luncheon, burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401.

Gary Leon Dick, 63, of Salina, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Russell, the son of Melvin and Bettie (Reissig) Dick. Gary was a longtime Dillons employee.

He is survived by his son, Michael Smith, sister, Connie Edwards, mother, Bettie Dick, and nephew, Kolby Edwards, all of Salina, and niece, Lindsey Edwards, of Wichita. His beloved dogs are Guido and Ally.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 29, with the family receiving friends from 5-6 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, and may be left in care of Ryan Mortuary.
