Coming from the first loss of the season last week in Sioux City, the Salina Bombers were glad to be back at home inside the Bicentennial Center. And it showed.
Salina scored on the first drive of the game and never looked back on their way to a 49-7 victory over the Omaha Beef. The Bombers would build the lead to 13-0 before Omaha scored their first and only touchdown at the 10:29 mark of the second quarter. After that, it was all Bombers.
Chris Coffin had a rushing touchdown for the fourth consecutive week and also had five passing touchdowns. He found Jared Elmore for two scores, Jeff Mack also had two scores and OJ Simpson caught the other Coffin strike for six.
Quentin Benning scored in the second half on a rushing touchdown from 20 yards away.
The Bomber defense played well all night led by the defensive line, especially with the ability to hurry the Beef quarterbacks by Clarence Bumpas and Tyus Jackson who combined for several sacks and a safety.
DeWayne Autrey grabbed his second interception of the season and Isiah Barfield notched his fifth interception of the season with a heavy cast on his right hand.
The Bombers (4-1) will be back at home next Saturday night to host the Dodge City Law.
