Two arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

4-2 Gardner and SatterfieldAn attempted traffic stop early Wednesday evening for a man recognized with an active warrant leads to the arrest of the man and another occupant of a Jeep on drug charges.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle about 6:48 pm in the area of 10th and South. The Jeep stopped in the 200 block of Baker near Cottonwood Elementary School, where the two men got out and ran for a short distance before being apprehended.

22-year-old Scott Gardner and 24-year-old Andre Satterfield were arrested on requested charges that included possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school, no tax stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction.  Gardner also was charged with failure to appear.

Police recovered marijuana and cocaine inside the Jeep and some marijuana that was thrown over a privacy fence during the brief foot chase.
