Tom Wilbur, President of BANK VI, presents Marysa Bradshaw with her Hero of the Week award!

FullSizeRenderThe BANK VI Hero of the Week is Marysa Bradshaw.

Bradshaw was chosen for her part in The Saline County Youth Relay for Life, which is a benefit event for the American Cancer Society.

Bradshaw, 18, has been part of this event for three years and has served as food chair, team development chair, co-event chair and captain.

This year, there were 250 attendees from six different schools. The theme for this year was “The 80’s.” Footloose, Top Gun and The Fanny Packs were some of the team names. There were events such as The Saline County Youth Relay for Life Shopping Cart Parade, in which shopping carts were decorated using team themes. The event was held at Salina Central Stadium and was open to the public during the first portion. There was also a ceremony in which luminaries were lit in honor or memory of those who have had cancer. The event helped to raise $23,000 for The American Cancer Society.

“Youth Relay for Life is one of those things I have a calling for. I started three years ago when I found out my Grandma had non-hodgkin’s lymphoma. This is a way for me to show my support,” said Bradshaw.
