Ceremony at Jerry Ivey Park Will Honor Fallen Law Enforcement Officers

PD Badge Web Page MemorialAs part of National Police Week, a ceremony will be held this Friday to honor all law enforcement officers from Salina and Saline County as well as state troopers that have died in the line of duty.

The ceremony will begin at 8:00 am with the Salina Police Color Guard, who will present the colors, followed by a roll call, which will name and honor each of the 15 Saline County law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty.

The ceremony will be held at Jerry Ivey Park, which was named for Salina Police Officer Jerry R. Ivey.  Ivey was the last Salina Police officer to lose his life in the line duty when he was shot and killed while pursuing a robbery suspect in 1975.
